Using an airbrush to paint miniatures can achieve some spectacular effects and save a ton of time. But it can also be incredibly daunting for someone new to the process and unused to working with an airbrush. We have put together a kit for this. With a little practice, an airbrush can be a very useful tool. It can aid in laying down primer, basecoats, and varnish, and those are a great way to start to learn the fundamentals. Once you are comfortable with the basics, you can start playing around to create endless possibilities.

The Airbrush:

The Harder and Steenbeck 0.3mm HANSA 481 Airbrush set with 7ml Gravity Fed Cup and 2 x 15ml Glass Bottles. All airbrushes in the Hansa Hobby Line are amazingly easy to use and have a user-friendly lever mechanism with a self-centering, socket-type nozzle system with self-sealing characteristics. They can be easily adapted for other nozzle sizes (0.2/0.3/0.4 mm) without the use of tools. The Hansa 481 Airbrush is “The optimum set for model constructors”.

The New Ultra 2024 is a gamechanger engineered to teach the perfect double action trigger technique to first time painters. Three radical new features: Start Control, Colour Control and Clog Control. Hole for the cup is larger, and more stable. It also functions as a Micro-cup replacing the 2ml cup. New design of 5ml cup – reshaped internally for easier cleaning and larger capacity in a smaller shape. New 0.45mm headset – finer performance than the 0.4mm but easier to use.

The Evolution 2024  CRplus 2in1 airbrush is a completely new and redesigned version of the original Evolution offering better performance, control, comfort & user friendliness. New FineLine Head Design: Our new 0.28mm and 0.45mm sizes give better detail than our previous 0.2mm, but with more robustness, less clogging and better sealing. Really, the detail is breath taking! The Infinity CRplus 2in1 features a triple coating of copper, nickel and high-gloss exterior chrome plating. It presents itself not only in high-quality optics, but it is suitable in particular for nickel allergy sufferers as well as those users who have problems with oxidation (tarnishing) of nickel alloys because of hand perspiration. The Infinity CRplus models are available with 0.15, 0.2 or 0.4 mm nozzle sets or as Two in One variant. An innovative long life needle seal and PTFE seals to the cup screwing and valve are responsible for safe protection against unwanted air and colour output – also in the application of solvent-based paints.

As with all H&S Airbrushes, build quality is superb & the design allows for a very quick & easy tool free strip down for thorough cleaning.

The ZETA Air compressor:

An innovative and intuitive feature designed to enhance the users airbrushing experience, the Smart-Stop pauses the compressor when the airbrush is placed into its holder and restarts when the airbrush is taken off again. This energy saving design allows users to stop the compressor when not in use. This reduces pressure fluctuations when compared to using an auto on/off switch and regulator and will extend the lifetime of the compressor. What makes the Sparmax Zeta compressor different is the Smart-Stop hanger and regulator/pressure gauge, which can be positioned on your worktop away from the compressor (using the clamp provided). This remote switch hanger is the first of its kind in the market and is internationally patented.

Using the Smart-Stop, the working pressure before the compressor is paused will be maintained upon restart; this is comparable to the pressure stabilising effect of an air tank, minus the space taken up! Additionally, the Smart-Stop eliminates the frequent on/off condition which can occur when using a traditional auto stop and pressure regulator set up without an air tank. Users with a single action or dual action airbrush will also have the same experience when using the Smart-Stop. It is light and very portable and suitable for either occasional or professional use.
