Using an airbrush to paint miniatures can achieve some spectacular effects and save a ton of time. But it can also be incredibly daunting for someone new to the process and unused to working with an airbrush. We have put together a kit for this. With a little practice, an airbrush can be a very useful tool. It can aid in laying down primer, basecoats, and varnish, and those are a great way to start to learn the fundamentals. Once you are comfortable with the basics, you can start playing around to create endless possibilities.

The Airbrush:

The Iwata Eclipse CS is the best all-around airbrush and one of the favourites of many airbrush artists, especially scale modellers. Eclipse’s high flow allows it to atomize a wider variety of liquids with less need for reducing or thinning. Eclipse Series offers a broad spray range, as compared to other airbrushes, where it is possible to achieve a controlled fine line to controlled wide spray. It comes with a generous 0.24oz / 7ml fluid cup with lid that is ideal for colour mixing. Iwata’s spring-steel needle resists breakage and the PTFE needle packings are solvent resistant for longevity. Iwata Eclipse airbrushes come with a head cap spanner that is used to remove the head cap when accessing the nozzle. Also included is Iwata Lube, which is used to lubricate the needle and main lever mechanism. It’s got a fragile looking needle, but don’t be fooled, it’s very springy and tougher than most airbrushes in the market. It’s durable and one of the easiest airbrushes to clean which makes it our most popular airbrush.

The Iwata Hi-Line HP CH Gravity Fed, Dual Action Airbrush has a 0.3 mm nozzle. It has a large 7ml gravity cup, ideal for colour mixing with snap on lid to prevent spillage. Mediums that may be sprayed range from inks and acrylics to oils and gouache suitably thinned. The HP-CH will produce lines down to 0.3 mm. The HP-CH has all the new features of the HP-C Plus, plus the unique new MAC Valve that enables incremental control of the airflow. Using the MAC Valve, you can easily restrict the airflow to create stipple effects.

The quick flush cutaway pre-set handle allows easy access to the needle so that you can quickly empty the paint reservoir for cleaning. The preset feature allows you to set the spray output, which increases your control while reducing finger fatigue. Iwata’s spring-steel needle resists breakage and our PTFE needle packing are solvent resistant for longevity. Included is the Iwata Nozzle Spanner that is used to remove the nozzle for cleaning, or you may purchase our Iwata Nozzle Wrench to easily remove or tighten your airbrush nozzle without fear of damaging it. Also supplied is Iwata Lube, which is used to lubricate the head needle and main lever mechanism. Iwata Hi-Line Series doesn’t just change air pressure instantly – it changes the way you airbrush.

The Revolution TR2 is a double action internal mix airbrush with. Fitted with a large 14ml side mounted colour cup and a 0.5 mm nozzle the Iwata Revolution TR2 airbrush features a unique pistol trigger. It is excellent for Custom Automotive Graphics, Mural Painting, Model Painting, Textiles, Hobby and Craft Cosmetics and Body Art to name a few. With the feel of a spray gun, but the control of and airbrush, the Revolution TR airbrushes you can achieve fine detail to 1-1/2″ (0.5 mm to 38 mm) spray pattern with the one size nozzle and you will be in total control. The Revolution TR is therefore great for automotive graphics or mural painting for those who are used to using a spray gun. Comes with a pistol Grip Filter.

The Air compressor:

The Iwata Sprint Jet airbrush compressor is compact and quiet producing a pre-set working pressure of 20-25 PSI. It is an excellent choice for general purpose applications that require low to medium air pressure. The moisture filter prevents pulsation while trapping condensation and delivering clean, dry air. The mounted air pressure gauge displays the air pressure and if desired, the bleed valve may be used to lower the working pressure below the preset range. The Sprint Jet has an air intake filter that protects the motor from dust and particulates and allows easy access for quick filter changes. The Sprint Jet includes an Iwata high-strength polyurethane air hose and replacement air intake filter. Also included are air hose adaptors for Badger, Aztek and Paasche brand airbrushes and a detailed operation manual. The Sprint Jet has a manual on/off switch. It is light and very portable and suitable for either occasional or professional use.
